COZY CARAVAN

Caravan-Interior-Lime-Green-White[1]
Today’s blog focuses on a charming little caravan that resides in the United Kingdom.  It was purchased by Zo Lake and her better half, as a creative solution for a temporary home after their cottage sold sooner than anticipated.  She had limited time to make her interior renovations, accomplishing them in just a few days.

Zo describes her style as shabby chic with a little bit of “funk” thrown in.  She chose to paint all the hard surfaces white to open up the space of the petite 13 foot trailer.  Upholstery and bedding are also white(ish), creating a soothing ambiance allowing the eye to glide easily throughout the space.

To Zo it’s all in the details.  A mini crystal chandelier hangs above the bed and puts off a calming glow in the evening.  She embellished the windows with a string of “fairy lights”.  House plants, candles, an elegant chandelier lamp, and gold leafed frames give the impression that you are indeed home.

Lime green was the choice as the sole accent color, used sparingly to maximize the impact.  Mission Accomplished!  The green throw pillows, partnered with green in the curtains, and topped off with a fabulous lime colored paper lantern that hangs above the dining area give the interior quite a pop.

The only structural change to the caravan involved cutting the bench seat, which ran the entire width of the trailer, in half.  The two bench halves were then arranged facing each other and a table was placed in between.  Dining dilemma  solved!  The benches were slip covered in a textured white fabric, durable enough for the “family of four”, which includes a temperamental senior cat and a rather rambunctious bunny named Boo.
Caravan-Kitchen[1]
The kitchen is rather compact, with all conveniences located on one wall.  Zo sums it up best explaining that “…everything is within arm’s reach.  So the mornings just need an intrepid toe to reach out from under the duvet to switch on the light, the kettle, and the radio with relative ease.”

Take a look at these before shots!  Isn’t it amazing what a can of white paint and a lot of imagination can do?

And last but not least, the exterior.  A can of metallic paint, minus the “racing stripes”, and this little trailer is a real head turner!

Much thanks to Zo for allowing me to share her creativity with all of us.  Check out her very entertaining blog “Enthused Monkey” to read more about her caravan and so much more.
